When MCP Servers are (and aren’t) the Right Choice

Brighton, October 2026

Nearly every SEO tool has an MCP server now. Using an LLM to ask questions without UI limitations opens up a world of potential for SEO research. In this session, Gus explores when to use MCP servers and when it’s best to use more effective alternatives. You'll learn how to combine multiple SEO tools to find out how to do all of this without leaving Claude or Claude Code:

- How to do keyword research, extract PAAs and turn these into prompts
- How to use an SEO crawler to audit structured data templates and identify opportunities
- How to compare crawls from a website and its competitors to find which pages are missing

Gus is testing MCPs from Ahrefs, AlsoAsked, DataForSEO, SISTRIX, SE Ranking, Sitebulb and Screaming Frog, with use cases combining multiple tools. He’ll also look at when equivalent tools or features can replace each other, so you don't necessarily need to invest in a new subscription.

There are cases where MCPs fail, too. Gus will cover these cases and show how he circumvents these failures with scripts and tasks - staying inside Claude Code all along.

This is a very practical talk: all steps run inside Claude Desktop/Code, and the audience will get a list of prompts to replicate the steps and tasks on their own.
